Public Option

Some members of the Independent Physicians Alliance spoke with Senator Blanch Lincoln on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 to express our concerns about a PUBLIC OPTION for healthcare. Healthcare Reform is necessary in America, however there are many opinions on how to obtain this goal. One option that we believe most healthcare providers oppose is that we do not need a PUBLIC OPTION that could potentially damage our existing industry infrastructure by penalizing employers, by government taking on the responsibility of managing such a large-scale endeavor, by possibly creating a negative economic effect with a Tsunami of Blue Cross/UHC/Aetna reprocussions, etc..

The conversation went very well and Senator Lincoln assured us that she completely opposes any form of Public Option as a part of any reform package. She did mention many great benefits of the reform bills that she is supporting such as 1)no pre-existing denials to patients, 2)portable insurance when leaving an employer, 3)ability to shop for insurance outside of the state lines, and 4)more preventative coverage for patients.

We will keep you updated on the developments of the Healthcare Reform bills and et you know Senator Lincoln's position on this issue and possible options that might be better suited for positive reform.

ARDOCSCARE will be providing a free webinar on this subject to clarify the proposals of healthcare reform and the pros and cons that it could bring. Please register for this FREE Webinar at help@physicianalliance.org for February 23, 2010 at 2:00pm.
